SOUTH DAKOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION: Resurfacing Project to Begin on Highways 324 & 13

South Dakota Department of Transportation issued the following announcement on July 19.

The South Dakota Department of Transportation says work to mill and resurface Highway 324 east of Interstate 29 and Highway 13 from the junction of Highway 324 south for 6.1 miles will begin on Tuesday, July 23, 2019.

The contractor will begin cold milling first on Highway 324 with asphalt resurfacing to follow on Aug. 2, depending on weather. Once complete, work will begin on Highway 13.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane and guided through the project with the use of flaggers and a pilot car. A delay of up to 15 minutes can be expected while traveling through the work area during daylight hours.

The project includes cold milling, asphalt concrete resurfacing, bridge guardrail replacement, permanent signing and pavement marking.

Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing, stopped and merging traffic, as well as construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes.

The prime contractor on this $3.3 million project is Bowes Construction Inc. of Brookings.

The expected completion date for the project is Sept. 13, 2019.
