NEW HAMPSHIRE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION: Traffic Shift on I-293 Bridge in Bedford-Manchester - Reschedule

New Hampshire Department of Transportation issued the following announcement on May 22.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation has rescheduled the planned traffic shift on the I-293 northbound bridge over the Merrimack River.

Weather permitting, work will begin on Tuesday evening, May 26, 2020 to shift the traffic on the bridge to allow work to be performed on the second half of the bridge. A concrete barrier will remain between the traveling public and the work area. The two lane configuration is expected to continue until early August 2020.

The work to implement the traffic shift is scheduled to be done between the hours of 7:00 pm on Tuesday, and 12:00 noon on Wednesday, May 27, 2020. Lane closures will be required to perform the work. Smart Work Zone (SWZ) message boards will be used to notify the travelling public of the upcoming work. This work is expected to take one night to complete the traffic shift, however additional work days may be required due to weather conditions.

This project consists of bridge preservation work on I-293 northbound and southbound bridges over the Merrimack River and PanAm Railroad in the Town of Bedford and the City of Manchester. The scope included deck repair, pier rehab, replacement of modular expansion joints, CCTV foundation and pole, and a Smart Work Zone (SWZ) to inform the traveling public.

R.S. Audley Inc. of Bow, New Hampshire is the contractor for the $4.7 million project, which has a final completion date of September 25, 2020.
