Crews with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) recently said they will close U.S. 60 between Phoenix and Globe, east of Superior, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. local time for blasting work as part of a project to add a passing lane and widen shoulders.

The exact work zone is a two-mile-long climbing lane between Oak Flat and Devil’s Canyon (mileposts 231-233).

Crews will stop traffic traveling east on U.S. 60, east of Superior (milepost 227). Traffic traveling westward on U.S. 60 will be stopped west of Miami (milepost 235). The stretch will be reopened after crews finish blasting and clear the debris.

Drivers are encouraged to use state routes 77 and 177 as alternatives during this work period.
