The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is paving the westbound lanes of I-10 in Tucson Wednesday thru Friday.

Drivers who need to use westbound I-10 need to set aside extra time for travel this week. The road will only have one lane open west of Exit 297 for Mescal Road/J-Six Ranch traffic interchange. This narrowing of traffic lanes will occur between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily.

Between mileposts 292 and 296, which will set the boundaries for the construction zone, drivers must reduce their speeds to 45 mph.

Worth $15.1 million, the construction project will repave a portion of 17 miles on I-10 from Tucson to Benson. The project requires crews to replace the bridge, which is 20 miles to the east of Tucson, crossing Davidson Canyon on I-10.

ADOT recommends drivers to drive cautiously, slowly and alertly, since the construction zones will be busy with personnel and equipment.
