The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) officials recently scheduled the final paving that is needed to finish the US 93 project north of Wickenburg, from milepost 185 to milepost 190.
The department warns drivers that they should make extra time for delays from March 21, which is the start of the final paving, to March 31. During these two weeks, crews will prepare the roadway for the final paving.
Pilot cars will guide traffic through the construction zone. Minor delays are estimated to last from 4:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays every week. The crews will also reduce the speed limit within the construction zone; signs and temporary barricades will mark the work zone.
The crews need to mill the current pavement covering northbound lanes. Drivers will use these rough roads until the paving is finished.
It is recommended that drivers give additional time for their commutes. They should drive in the construction zone with caution and awareness of construction workers and equipment. They also must obey the decreased speed limit sign.
This project first started in February. The purpose is to widen US 93 from State Route 89 to State Route 71. This includes rebuilding the highway with four lanes. This phase is the last needed before the project will be finished.
