Airlines for America issued the following announcement on Oct. 16.

Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, applauds the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for their development of a Biometrics Roadmap, which includes plans for cooperation with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to expand the use of biometric technologies into passenger screening checkpoints.

We appreciate TSA’s exploration of innovative biometric solutions — in partnership with our member airlines — that will improve the passenger travel experience from check-in, through screening and to the boarding gate.

Because the safety and security of airline passengers and employees is our highest priority, A4A and our member airlines are proud to work with the TSA on this important initiative. We look forward to TSA’s continued engagement with the industry on these issues.
