Airlines for America (A4A) recently called for an overhaul of the U.S. air traffic control (ATC) system.
“It’s time to modernize America’s air traffic control system, but not by placing the cost burden on passengers,” A4A said. “Creating a nonprofit, user-funded ATC system that ends government red tape is best for our customers and the American economy.”
A4A said reforming the ATC would “prevent disruptions due to sequestration and politics, while providing a more technologically advanced and efficient system.” It would also make the system more efficient and more advanced technologically by simplifying the flying process for travelers, as well as for the airlines and their employees, including pilots and stewards and stewardesses, A4A said.
