The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) recently announced that crews will start work on the eastern frontage road portion of Interstate 19 at Canoa Ranch Road.

The project will widen an approximately half-mile long portion of the road between mileposts 35 to 36.

Drivers using the frontage road next to northbound I-19, in the Green Valley region should allow extra time in their commutes for short delays. The delays will occur sporadically from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays.

Flagging personnel will control the traffic that will run in both directions on frontage road. The road to narrow to a single lane during work hours.

Bicyclists will be allowed use of the road throughout construction, even though they will still need to share the road with motorists in vehicles. Bicyclists will need to obey traffic laws, such as waiting for the flagging personnel to signal that it is safe to continue.

Northbound traffic on I-19 arriving at Canoa Ranch Road Exit 46 will have a reduced speed limit of 55 mph.

ADOT officials recommend that drivers travel through the work zone cautiously and slowly, remaining on alert for personnel and equipment.
