The American Trucking Associations said this week that it has hired Mike Joyce, a veteran of the trucking industry as well as Capitol Hill, to be the agency’s new senior vice president of legislative affairs.
“Mike is well-known and respected in the halls of Congress and in our industry, and we are tremendously pleased that he will be part of the ATA family going forward,” Bill Graves, ATA’s president and CEO, said.
Previously, Joyce served as director of government relations for PACCAR Inc., an allied member of the ATA. Before that, Joyce worked for the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association under former U.S. Rep. Bud Shuster (R-PA).
“Trucking is the backbone of our nation’s economy,” Joyce said. “I’m excited about the opportunities to harness the tremendous expertise and resources of the ATA — picking up the tradition of being a robust and active voice in promoting our dynamic industry among policy makers, regulators and the general public, both in Washington, D.C., and the state level.”
Joyce earned a bachelor’s in business management and a minor in political science from Gettysburg College. Joybe currently lives in Washington.
“Much of the value of a membership in ATA comes from the advocacy efforts put forth by the staff in Washington, specifically on Capitol Hill,” Dave Osiecki, ATA’s executive vice president and chief of national advocacy, said. “Mike’s depth of knowledge and experience with the issues that impact trucking the most made him an obvious choice for us and will make him a valuable member of the advocacy team.”
