Capital Metro, the main transportation agency in Austin, Texas, recently celebrated its 30th anniversary as part of its July 27 board meeting.

The celebration was attended by many guests who wore t-shirts with the company’s “30 Forward” theme. The decor included metallic, large gold and blue “30” balloon decorations.

Linda S. Watson, the president and CEO of Capital Metro, gave a presentation. She emphasized that the company has made much progress since it was first established on July 1, 1985. She also made comments about preparing for the future and facing the challenges of a changing industry.

“We have a lot to do to continue to evolve to meet the needs of our fast-growing community,” Watson said. “That’s why this whole celebration is called ‘30 Forward’ … because it’s about looking ahead to another 30 great years of service.”

The event also included an inspiring series of interviews that were videotaped. The interviewees were some of the company’s long-term employees. There were also 49 employees who have been with Capital Metro since it first began 30 years ago.

“It’s a real pleasure to be a part of such a hardworking and dedicated team of people,” Watson said. “Thank you for your dedication to Capital Metro and Central Texas.”
