The Associated General Contractors of America (AGCA) honored Tempe, Arizona-based Sundt Construction Inc. this week as the nation’s safest construction company for 2015 as part of its Willis Towers Watson Construction Safety Excellence Awards.

Sundt was recognized for its safety and loss-prevention initiatives, as well as its efforts in the areas of occupational health management, risk control, safety training, work-site hazard identification and control, and safety-program innovation.

This annual ranking evaluates the safety programs of construction companies all over the country. Aside from Sundt, 51 other companies were recognized by the association for having exemplary safety programs. Awards are given in a number of different categories and are awarded based on company sizes.

Winners are selected by a panel made up of five independent safety professionals who work in the government, corporate and insurance sectors.

“The foundation of any successful construction project is workplace safety,” Charles Greco, past president of the AGCA, said. “By demonstrating excellence in safety, firms like this strengthen our industry and set an outstanding example for others to follow.”
