DelDOT: Deer Run Road stretch to be closed for bridge work

The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) recently said Deer Run Road, the bridge that crosses Bearhole Ditch, will be closed between Zion Church Road and Hudson Road between 7 a.m. Monday, March 21, and 6 p.m. Saturday, April 30, unless bad weather delays the reopening.

Zack Excavating, DelDOT’s chosen contractor, will replace the bridge’s three corrugated metal pipes with pipes that are reinforced with concrete.

I addition, the approach to the roadway will be reconstructed. Crews also will apply riprap along the stream channel for protection from erosion.

There will be detour routes posted for drivers. Westbound traffic will turn north onto Zion Church Road to west on Gum Road, and south on Hudson Road. Eastbound traffic will turn north onto Hudson Road to east on Gum Road, and south on Zion Church Road.
