The U.S. Department of Transportation said April 10 it released the 18th edition of its Transportation Statistics Annual Report (TSAR).

The congressionally mandated TSAR offers key transportation indicators as well as an overview of the transportation system on a national level.

The report also includes statistical data on passenger travel, freight movement, transportation and the economy, system reliability, safety, energy use and environmental impacts. Additionally, the TSAR focuses on closing gaps in information and improving methodology for collecting, compiling, analyzing and releasing data on transport issues.

The Transportation Statistics Annual Report is issued by the director of the DOT’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BST) directly to the president and Congress.

Interested persons can download sections or the entire report on the BTS website.

Individuals or businesses may also request printed copies via email to [email protected]. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics also maintains an online bookstore.

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics, which is part of the DOT’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA), is charged with advancing rigorous analysis and the deployment of cross-cutting technologies to improve our nation’s transportation system. BTS was created in 1992, and became part of RITA in 2005.
