Florida East Coast Railway (FECR) recently began using GE Transportation’s (GE) RailConnect mCrew to improve asset utilization, enhance operations productivity and better serve customers by providing more timely status updates on their shipments.

GE’s mobile software solution allows train crews to receive switching instructions and report car movement in near real-time.

FECR Vice President and Chief Transportation Officer Will Costantini said the railroad is highly pleased with the capabilities of mCrew.

“The constant flow of real-time data enables us to make more informed decisions and ensure that we provide the consistent, reliable service our customers need to manage their supply chains,” Costantini said.

Data transmitted from RailConnect mCrew flows seamlessly into FECR’s Transportation Management System and can be accessed by customers through FECR Connect, the railroad’s online portal.

“The portal and FECR’s customer service have been enhanced by the timely information provided by this system,” Costantini said.

GE Solutions General Manager Kirk Knauff said mCrew is part of RailConnect 360, a connected suite of software solutions that provides data-driven insights.

“The new and improved user experience truly puts the power of technology directly in the hands of train crews, capturing vital information when and where the work occurs,” Knauff said.
