Florida East Coast Railway (FECR) recently launched a new online portal that allows customers to track freight shipments and equipment across the network, and streamlines the process of submitting and managing shipping instructions electronically.

The portal, which is called FECR Connect, also has a customer dashboard that provides customers with a comprehensive view of all shipments in the system at any time or the history of any shipment.

FECR President and CEO James Hertwig said that by making scheduling, planning and tracing shipments efficient and convenient, FECR Connect helps company better plan their operations.

“The portal enables us to provide the complete and current information needed by today’s supply chains managers,” Hertwig said.

Kevin Allmond, an area freight flow manager for Wal-Mart, said in today’s fast-paced day-to-day operation, the more time saved on keystrokes is a big benefit.

“With FECR Connect, we are able in enter the necessary billing information quickly and efficiently with minimal data input,” Allmond said. “We can easily see a history of all of our billing information that has been submitted, track our billing and easily view our trailer assets. This cuts time spent in research to help us focus on other aspects of the business.”
