Leaders at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), a branch of the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), recently ordered J and J Transportation trucking company, DBA John A. Robles (USDOT No. 2497430), be shut down.
FMCSA has declared that the company is an imminent hazard to the safety of the public. The officials ordered it to stop all of its interstate and intrastate operations; on Feb. 25, J and J Transportation received the federal order.
Investigators with the FMCSA first visited the company earlier in February for a simple compliance review. During that time, the company was not able or refused to show vehicle maintenance records, drivers’ vehicle inspection reports, records for most of its drivers (such as driver qualification documentation), evidence of defects found in roadside inspections that had been corrected, complete records-of-duty status or supporting documents for drivers, medical examiner’s certificates for the drivers, and pre-employment controlled substances tests for most of its drivers.
In December of last year, a commercial truck from the company was part of a single vehicle crash. The driver was fatally injured. During the post-crash investigation, the police found several violations against the driver for the federal hours-of-service regulations, among other issues. The company was not able to demonstrate any action to guarantee that the problem was remedied.
