With its recent acquisition of Granite City Passenger Terminal, St. Louis-based Gateway Rail Services will be able to offer even more services to its rail passengers, Gateway said on Monday.

The Granite City Terminal is a warehouse and railcar storage facility situated near Granite City, Illinois. It has been set up to be used as a short- or long-term storage facility and is equipped with electricity and other utilities. It also features a 75,000-square-foot warehouse space and has been operating since 2010.

“We’re excited to provide these additional options for our clients,” Roger Verbeeren, Gateway’s president and general manager, said. “On top of our cooperative work force providing quality railcar service, we can now offer railcar storage on over 6,000 feet of rail in our yard. We have almost five acres of open land space and easily accessible warehouse space for lease to any type of business.”

Gateway Rail Services is located across the Mississippi River from downtown St. Louis. The company focuses on rebuilding, restoring and repairing standard and light-rail cars owned by individuals, museums, regional and short-line railroads, government agencies and Class I railroads.
