Greyhound Lines, Inc. last week launched BusTracker, a real-time GPS tracking service that allows passengers to see where busses are by searching for their schedule number, or either the destination or departure city on the company’s website.

The new service is one of several improvement measures undertaken by the intercity transportation provider.

“We are dedicated to making our customers’ experience with us as simple and as easy as possible,” Andy Kaplinsky, chief commercial officer of Greyhound, said, “We are excited to launch a system that takes the uncertainty out of bus travel. With BusTracker, our customers can relax and enjoy their trip with bus status information at their fingertips.”

In addition to accessing BusTracker on Greyhound busses, it will be available on Android and Apple-based mobile devices by the end of the month.

As part of the new service, while passengers are on-board, they also have access to a catalogue of events and attraction tickets in their destination cities through the OnTouch service.

Greyhouse busses also have been upgraded to include on-board wireless Internet, electrical outlets and improved seating space.

Greyhound services approximately 3,800 destinations throughout North America. This past year, the company celebrated 100 years of transportation service.
