The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) scheduled closures for Interstate 65 lanes between Franklin and Edinburg Saturday.

The closure made way for full-depth concrete patching for the I-65 southbound right lane as well as bridge work at Sugar Creek and Big Blue River.

The closure affected the I-65 southbound right lane, from Franklin to Edinburg, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. so crews can seed the roadside by the lane.

The $21 million contract for this project was awarded to Reith-Riley. They are responsible for significant pavement repairs as well as an asphalt surface that overlays approximately 8.2 miles in southern Johnson County.

The subcontractor, Beaty Construction, is responsible for the bridge replacement superstructure located at Big Blue River. These crews will also handle the new bridge deck overlays for Sugar Creek as well as Amity Ditch.

Previously, I-65 was closed overnight on November 18, from State Roads 44 as well as 252 within Johnson County. This closure enabled crews to repair guardrails.
