Traffic patterns on Interstate 65 will return to normal within the construction zones in Greenwood and Edinburgh, Ind.

Northbound traffic can now use the northbound lanes on I-65, while southbound traffic can also use the southbound lanes on I-65. The two construction zones will be removed so that people can travel normally throughout the winter months.

In accordance with the plans outlined in the Major Moves 2020 document, crews installed additional travel lanes between Main Street/Greenwood and State Road 44 nearby Franklin.

This change will be finalized on Friday or Saturday, depending on the weather.

Crews also removed the median crossovers located at mile markers 94.1 and 96.7 because traffic is switching to normalized patterns, with two northbound lanes as well as two southbound lanes.

The travel lane project, which is worth $84 million, is confined within 11 miles of the road. The contractor for the project was Milestone, which focused on a section of just three miles.

Paving and asphalt work will continue at Whiteland Road, located nearby the 95.0 mile marker. Crews still need to finish this project during the winter months.

There will also be ongoing bridge work for the Main Street bridge located in Greenwood.
