International Coding Technologies, Inc. (ICT) and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will partner in integrating the Idencia information tracking service into an infrastructure project in Boston.

Idencia will be used to track precast deck panel information that has been specifically created to rehabilitate Boston’s Commonwealth Avenue Bridge. Workers from the precast concrete producer will embed the Cast-A-Code® RFID tags from Idencia into the panels as they are being manufactured. Later, workers from MassDOT’s Materials & Research Division will scan the tags to record information about the use of the panels.

As a cloud-hosted system, Idencia will give MassDOT real-time access as the manufacturing plant collects information. It will also show MassDOT the source for the concrete batch used for each panel in the project.

ICT provides the new Idencia system as a product that can track services. The goal of the tracker is to improve efficiency and productivity during the construction, manufacture and maintenance of various products that are part of public infrastructure.

“Idencia is a powerful tool for DOTs to do more with fewer resources, as they all have to do these days,” Jeff Pollock, CEO of ICT, said. “MassDOT joins the North Carolina Department of Transportation in recognizing that using Idencia can collect more project information with fewer people involved.”
