The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is seeking public input on its short- and long-term transportation plans for the state.

The general public is welcome to attend the open-house hearing scheduled for March 24 in Fort Wayne. INDOT officials will discuss the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), a four-year planning document that outlines all of the projects the state plans to fund during the next four years.

Projects listed in the STIP include bridge facilities, pavement facilities and projects involving mobility, safety, emergency and congestion response issues. INDOT plans to improve transit, highways, bicycle facilities and pedestrian trails.

INDOT leaders will answer questions and ask for feedback at the open house. Their main concerns are project selection, planning, highway safety, multimodal, local public agency, economic opportunity, district operations, public involvement and similar INDOT projects.

The open house provides an opportunity for the public, program managers, transportation stakeholders, community leaders and INDOT officials to meet. The discussions will be a valuable part of the state’s next steps in implementing INDOT programs.

The open house will take place from 4 – 7 p.m. March 24 at the Fort Wayne District Sub District Building, 5333 Hatfield Rd., Fort Wayne, Indiana.
