The Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office (ITS JPO) recently introduced a new website to explain the basics of connected vehicles throughout the United States.

Connected vehicle technology connects vehicles to one another with wireless technology and also connects vehicles to personal mobile devices and roads.

This connection guarantees that information systems can share speed, position, brake status as well as other timely recommendations and warnings that are appropriate to the various situations of drivers.

With the technology, vehicles can potentially eradicate 80 percent of car accidents that occur when drivers are not paying attention to the road.

ITS JPO’s website serves to make a case as to why the U.S. Department of Transportation supports the new technology and explains exactly how the technology system operates, with presentations, videos and diagrams about connected vehicles’ inner operations.
