With the appointment of one of its leadership team members to the Women In Trucking (WIT) board of directors, J.B. Hunt Transport recently increased its support for the organization.

Stan Hampton, vice president of driver personnel for one of the country’s largest transportation companies, brings more than 21 years of experience in transportation, recruiting, retention and operations to WIT.

“J.B. Hunt is excited to partner with Women In Trucking,” Hampton said. “While our industry is more diverse than ever before, there is a great need to recognize the gap that still exists between male and female employment. Women In Trucking is a natural partner for J.B. Hunt, as we both recognize the benefits of attracting, employing, growing and retaining outstanding women within the transportation industry.”

Hampton recently participated in a strategic planning meeting with his fellow WIT board members.  Among the future initiatives they discussed was the upcoming Accelerate! Conference and Expo, which will be held in September.
Other plans include a WIT Index to monitor the growth of women in management, director and driver positions; greater expansion of the organization’s Girl Scout Transportation Patch; and a newly created image team.
The association aims to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry and to promote their accomplishments while minimizing any obstacles.

“We are so pleased to have J.B. Hunt Transport’s support as well as Stan’s involvement in helping us increase the percentage of women in the trucking industry by offering their resources and their expertise in moving the mission forward,” Ellen Voie, WIT’s president and CEO, said. “Stan brings a different insight into our very diverse group of leadership for the association.”

In addition to Hampton’s appointment, J.B. Hunt made a substantial financial commitment to WIT and was named a Gold Level Partner.
