The Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association recently honored  Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission (MHTC) Chairman Stephen Miller with the 2015 President’s Award.

The award is meant to formally recognize a person for his or her excellence in the legal profession. The person must strive to further promote professional excellence, justice and respect for and obedience to the law. All of these qualities correspond with the association’s mission statement.

As one of the founders of the law firm Miller Schirger LLC, Miller handles complex business litigation and specializes in the construction industry. In 2009, Miller first became a member of the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission thanks to an appointment from Gov. Jay Nixon. In 2014, Miller was elected chairman.
