The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) recently awarded state Transportation Economic Development Category F (TEDF) grants to Ingham, Livingston and Monroe Counties.

The three grants total nearly $1.1 million and will be distributed to two county road commissions and one southeast Michigan city.

The Ingham County Road Department (ICRD) will use grant funds to resurface over a mile of Holt Road, from US-127 to Depot Street, to improve accessibility to an industrial park and multiple businesses in the area.

The project totals $600,000. The ICRD will pay $375,000 with the TEDF funds and pay for the remaining $225,000 out of its own pocket.

The Livingston County Road Commission (LCRC) will use its $268,825 portion of the funding to pay for part of a resurfacing project on approximately half a mile of Burkhart Road, between the CSX Railroad crossing and M-59. The purpose is to preserve the pavement within this highly commercialized region in the county. The LCRC will pay for the remaining $115,211 in project costs from its own resources.

The City of Milan, located in Monroe County, will use its $375,000 from the grant to pay for a portion of a reconstruction project. Crews will rebuild a half-mile portion of Redman Road, from Wabash Road to Platt Road. This includes new gutters, curbs and drainage upgrades. This will improve road access to an industrial park and commercial businesses located nearby. The city will pay for the other $482,781 in project costs from its own resources.
