The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) named Jason Gutting its new Construction Field Services (CFS) Division coordinator this week.

Gutting spent the past four years serving as a Construction Operations Division engineer for CFS. Earlier, Gutting worked as a system operations engineer for the Operations Field Services Division.

“In his new position, Jason will play a vital role developing and implementing statewide policy on pavement and materials operations,” Randy Van Portfliet, deputy chief engineer and head of MDOT’s Bureau of Field Services, said. “Research and technological advances spell rapid changes in the construction industry. Jason will challenge his staff to continue to find innovations and new ways to do things to save time and money.”

CFS operates the development and distribution of quality control/quality assurance programs, construction specifications, field consultation standards, and training in support of the region’s transportation program.

Gutting succeeds Brenda O’Brien, who is retiring.

“We extend a huge thanks to Brenda for all her leadership and setting the stage for Jason’s success by creating the team that is in place,” Van Portfliet said.
