The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has scheduled an open house for 4-5:30 p.m. March 15 in Cheboygan City Hill, 403 N. Huron St., where staff will discuss the reconstruction project that will take place on M-33 in Cheboygan County.

The meeting gives business owners and local residents the chance to see the plans for the project. They will also be able to ask questions about the project.

The project will involve reconstruction work over 6.3 miles of the roadway, covering a stretch from M-27 to Long Lake Road. The project includes safety improvements, guardrail upgrades, gutter replacement, drainage improvements and curb replacement. The project will start on April 4 and is expected to be finished by Oct. 14.

Because of the nature of the reconstruction, traffic needs to follow a detour that uses I-75, M-68 and M-27. There will need to be lane closures, lane shifts and intermittent daytime flag control.

The general public is invited to attend. There will be accommodations available for people who have disabilities or who have limited English speaking skills. These accommodations must be requested a minimum of seven days before March 15.

The other participants include staff from the MDOT Gaylord Transportation Service Center (TSC).

The meeting is scheduled for March 15 from 4 pm to 5:30 pm. It will be held.
