Mesilla Valley Transportation (MVT) recently announced that it has chosen the new TC10 by Allison Transmission Holdings Inc. as one of its Class 8 truck purchases for the 2015 to 2016 year; MVT ran real-world comparisons of automated manual, manual and automatic transmissions to choose its selection — now, approximately one third of MVT’s fleet will use the TC10 in 2016.

“We pride ourselves in making our equipment as fuel efficient as possible,” Royal Jones, co-founder, CEO, president and majority owner of MVT, said. “Our TC10 equipped tractors have demonstrated an improvement of more than 3.5 percent when compared to the rest of our fleet. In fact, we have a dozen TC10 tractors that have achieved double-digit mpg.”

The TC10 is fully automatic with two reverse speeds and 10 forwards. It uses full power shifts and a patented torque converter for its superior productivity and performance, making the transmission perfect for tractor uses. The TC10 is ideal for distribution approaches that split the tractor-trailer work cycle for both highway as well as city areas.

“MVT has a reputation for being on the cutting edge when it comes to adopting technology to maximize fuel economy,” Heidi Schutte, executive director of North America sales for Allison Transmission, said. “We’re pleased the TC10 has proven to be effective in helping them achieve even greater mpg.”
