Minerals Technologies, a New York-based firm marketing specialized mineral-based products, launched its new crop enhancement product Enersol on Tuesday in China.

The product is being tested on a number of crops, including corn, soybeans, rice and potatoes. The tests are being done in different growing conditions around the world.

Joseph Muscari, chairman and CEO of Minerals Technologies, said the company and farmers will benefit from launching Enersol into the massive Chinese agricultural industry.

“We believe there is an excellent growth opportunity with the Enersol technology, and this launch in China, which is a vast agricultural market, is a significant step for Minerals Technologies,” Muscari said.

Enersol is derived from a waxy, naturally occurring mineral called leonardite, which is commonly used as a soil conditioner. The mineral is also often used for remediation when soil has become polluted.
Leonardite can speed up microbial processes to sequester carbon and create healthier soil.

Also sponsoring the launch is Sipcam Crop Science, of the Sipcam-OXON Group out of Milan, Italy. Sipcam is tasked with distributing Enersol in China, while also providing local technical support for farmers.
