The latest State of the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) System report shows a series of improvements that the MTA can make to better serve the Nashville, Tennessee area.
Nashville’s employment, population and related travel levels have shown much higher growth than the MTA’s services estimated or can provide for. The region’s demographics are changing in ways that require more transit solutions.
“Despite significant improvements over the past 10 years, Nashville’s transit service has not kept pace with the fast-paced growth of the city,”
Nashville MTA Chief Executive Officer Steve Bland said. “Our work has begun to identify a number of opportunities for improvements to our system. Over the coming months, we’re going to be asking for your input on what to do next.”
There has been a significant increase of ridership and service levels with the MTA throughout the last 10 years, but the Nashville MTA’s success in the future needs an aggressive approach that will address the mobility needs of the area.
The report gives an overview of the current transit services of Nashville MTA and evaluates whether these services adequately meet the transit demand in Davidson County. Using these findings and related analysis, the report shows the crucial issues that the local transit authority faces. The report also makes recommendations.
