The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), a branch of the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) recently named the Chattanooga-Hamilton County/North Georgia Transportation Planning Organization as a recipient of the Transportation Planning Excellence Award.
The organization is one of the eight winners for 2015.
“Building a world-class transportation system doesn’t happen overnight, and never by accident,”
U.S. Transportation Secretary
Anthony Foxx said. “These awards recognize the critical role planning plays in meeting America’s future transportation challenges.”
The other winners are Prater Way Bus RAPID Transit Project; Bus Stop Accessibility Study, Minnesota State Highway Investment Plan (MnSHIP); Humanizing Infrastructure: Design for the Replacement of I-95; Moving Forward Updated 2035 Regional Transportation Plan; Mt. Hood Multimodal Transportation Plan; and Project Connect North Corridor.
“Good projects are the result of good planning,” Gregory Nadeau, acting Federal Highway Administrator, said. “A disciplined, long-term vision of the state’s transportation needs in the coming decades is not just good government – it is smart government.”
