The Wisconsin DOT recently launched its free smartphone application that will have information about delays, backups, traffic incidents, closures, detours, weather-related road conditions and work zones. The app includes 400 traffic camera live feeds.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) said Thursday it is following new federal laws that require commercial vehicle operators to have proof of either legal U.S. citizenship or legal temporary status when applying for a renewed, original, or changed authority to their commercial learner permit (CLP) or commercial driver license (CDL).

According to a recent announcement from Scott Walker, the Governor of Wisconsin, local government leaders have received a total of more than $83.5 million in payments from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) for Expressway Policing Aids, Connecting Highway Aids, and General Transportation Aids A total of 1,924 local governments received the finances.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker recently authorized nearly $1 million to expand the terminal building and rehabilitate two runways at Batten International Airport in Racine. Gayle Stearn, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the expanded terminal will include the addition of a General Aviation Facility (GAF) for customs agents to inspect international passengers, cargo and crew.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker said U.S. 41 has been added to the U.S. Interstate System, as I-41, his office said on Thursday. The newly minted Interstate is located in the eastern part of the state, and Walker said its designation was due to the several years' worth of effort by officials at the local, state and federal levels.
