Regular service has reopened for the Queens Boulevard E subway, M subway, F subway and R subway lines as well as the Downtown 6 subway local located in Lower Manhattan.
This service resumed after several weeks of decreased service during rush hour. Travelers were also required to proceed at reduced speeds when passing through the work zones in both Queens and Manhattan.
Now, riders who use the E subway and F subway in Queens can travel at normal train speeds. Express trains had been forced to commute at just 10 miles per hour within work zones. Other trains were forced to use local tracks, which limited the services available on R subway and M subway lines. Commuters on the Lexington Avenue Line in Lower Manhattan also will have improved service on the Brooklyn Bridge-bound 6 subway.
“This important work, part of our State of Good Repair Program, is now completed, and the number of trains traveling along these busy stretches of our subway network will return to normal levels,” Joseph Leader, senior vice president of subways at NYC Transit, said. “We truly thank our customers for their patience while our in-house forces performed this vital work which will help improve service delivery and reliability.”
