Roadrunner Transportation Systems said on Friday that it is expanding less-the-truckload freight service in the Phoenix and Salt Lake City metropolitan areas.

Outbound service will begin in Phoenix on Monday and on July 20 in Salt Lake City. Service centers in both cities will concentrate on serving Southern California, the Great Lakes region, Tennessee, Texas and the Southeast.

Grant Crawford, Roadrunner’s less-than-truckload president, said the company is enthusiastic about strengthening its service to the country’s western regions.

“Our customer base has expressed the need for service in Phoenix and Salt Lake City, and new partnerships in these regions will allow Roadrunner to provide outstanding service in these key metro areas,” Crawford said. “The Phoenix presence also will allow us to provide added service levels to the Mexico market.”
