The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) said track and infrastructure work on the Central Subway will affect traffic and transit on 4th and King streets and nearby areas during November.

The work, scheduled to begin Nov. 6, will require a weeklong series of street closures that will include Municipal Railway (Muni) detours. The closures and detours will include 4th and King streets as well as certain street tributaries in the region.

The construction project will include track work as well as upgrades to infrastructure, both of which will serve to further advance Central Subway.

The Central Subway Trackway Project will install switch points and extensions in order to accommodate the newly installed tracks that will run along 4th Street. These updates will coordinate and connect the current T Third Metro Line and the new Central Subway.

The construction project will continue for seven days. It is expected to begin at 10 p.m. Nov. 6 and end the evening of Nov. 14.

This project is the second phase of a two-tier construction process. The first trackway project began over Labor Day weekend.
