Scandit announced a new mobile app suite for the transportation and logistics industries on Monday, which it said would look to enhance operational efficiency and enterprise profitability.

The company develops software-based barcode scanning for tablets, smartphones and other wearable devices. Scandit also announced a preview look at a new “cloud-configurable barcode scanning solution,” which it said would offer an effortless enterprise-grade barcode workflow.

Scandit CEO Samuel Mueller said businesses in the logistics and transportation industries provide goods and services for millions of other companies and consumers around the world every day.

“The new Mobile App Suite for Logistics and Transport helps these businesses lower costs, increase efficiencies and boost worker productivity by enabling them to use existing mobile devices in new and powerful ways,” Mueller said. “By turning a standard smartphone or tablet into an enterprise-grade scanning device, logistics and transportation companies benefit from greater control and visibility into their operations while empowering employees to manage workflows more effectively, greatly enhancing their competitiveness and profitability.”

The new app will streamline operations and improve the tracking process, lower operational and upfront costs, and give a “future-proof” user experience by providing customizable features on both the iOS and Android platforms.

Scandit has more than 15,000 licensees in 80 countries and processes hundreds of millions of scans per year.
