The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) recently hosted two open houses in which the public was informed and engaged in SDOT’s updated design for the Seattle Streetcar – Center City Connector.

The new addition of the Center City Connector will serve to link more than a dozen neighborhoods located in Seattle. The modern streetcar system is projected to help the city’s economic growth, urban mobility options and connections between the areas where residents work, live and socialize.

The Seattle City Council first granted approval to the Center City
Connect project in 2014. The project includes center stop platforms and
transit-only lanes between Pike Place Market and Pioneer Square on First
Avenue. There will also be a connection to Westlake Avenue’s current
tracks using Olive Way and Stewart Street.

The two downtown open houses were open to the public. Attendees were encouraged to ask questions about the proposed construction phasing and design options for the new project.

The open houses were held on Sept. 29 and on Sept. 30 at
Seattle City Hall’s Bertha Knight Landes Room (700 4th Ave, Seattle, WA
98104).
