The U.S. Senate recently agreed with the priorities outlined in Heller Amendment No. 453, which focuses on federal investments assisting infrastructure projects on a national and regional level, including constructing Interstate 11 to connect Phoenix and Las Vegas.

The Heller Highway Amendment emphasizes that the small funds allocated to the Department of Transportation must be prioritized correctly for the good of the U.S. economy.

These projects are important for economic growth, as improving the safety and efficiency of moving people and goods will improve overall transportation and create more jobs.

Experts agree that projects of High Priority Corridors and Regional and National Significance are vital to ensuring the safety of America’s longer-term economic health.

“It is important we prioritize roads and bridges that give us the biggest bang for our buck,” Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV) said. “The construction of I-11, connecting Phoenix and Las Vegas and ultimately extending north to I-80, will do just that. For years now, this has been a top priority of mine, and I have worked to turn this project into a reality by building a coalition on Capitol Hill and urging key stakeholders, like Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx, to support this essential designation.

“Developing critical infrastructure – such as I-11 – in our state is an important step toward increasing Nevada’s economic competitiveness and spurring long-term job growth. I am pleased my colleagues agree.”
