Southwest Washington highway repairs to begin this week

Drivers in southwest Washington state will encounter highway construction as crews begin work this month  to repair worn and damaged pavement on State Routes (SR) 501, 503 and 14, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) said on Thursday.

WSDOT Southwest Regional Administrator Kris Strickler said drivers who use these roads are all too familiar with the rough ride.

“The work this summer will help prevent additional pavement damage and more expensive highway repairs,” Strickler said.

Crews will be out repaving roughly 15 miles in Clark County and chip-sealing 40 miles in Skamania and Klickitat Counties.

The specific projects are: SR 501, paving from Gee Creek Bridge to South 56th Place, set to begin on Tuesday; SR 503, paving from SR 500 Orchards to Battle Ground, set to begin in early July; and SR 14, paving and chip-seal from Sixth Street in Washougal to Bingen, set to begin in early July.
