Crews with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) recently reopened the Sprinkle Road Interstate 94 ramps in Kalamazoo.

This $15.5 million project that began in March includes two roundabouts and a new bridge that  I-94.

The roundabouts are designed to improve the traffic flow to the ramps and the local area. With traffic moving slowly from various connecting roads, there will be fewer potential accidents at this intersection.

The

northern roundabout at the end of the Sprinkle Road bridge creates a new intersection that connects Sprinkle Road with Cork Street and the westbound I-94 ramp directed to Sprinkle Road. The southern roundabout is near the Sprinkle Road intersection. It connects the ramp for eastbound I-94 with Sprinkle Road and links the ramp for northbound Sprinkle Road with eastbound I-94.

Both of these new additions had previously been partially open to traffic. The contractors continued their work throughout the weekend to finish pavement markings, paving and sign installation.
