Emerging leaders in the transportation design and construction industry descended on Washington D.C. last week to learn how the  federal legislative and regulatory processes worked.

As part of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation’s (ARTBA-TDF) 20th annual Young Executive Development Program, 54 fellows learned about federal highway program funding, grassroots advocacy, future challenges facing the nation’s infrastructure, public-private partnerships and professional development.

Senior ARTBA staff also provided an overview of the association’s role in shaping federal transportation policies and regulations as part of the ARTBA Federal Issues Program and Transportation Construction Coalition Fly-In.

Since the program began in 1995, there have been more than 600 graduates. This year, the fellows represented 22 states and Canada.
