Air Canada reached a tentative agreement on a five-year contract with Unifor, the service and sales agents’ union, on Sunday.

Although specific details of the agreement have not been released, Jerry Dias, Unifor National president, said the contract reaches important goals set by members of the union working for the airline.

“Along with agreements concluded with other employee groups over the past eight months, this tentative agreement with Unifor, subject to ratification, provides Air Canada with added stability and flexibility to support profitable growth,” Calin Rovinescu, president and CEO of Air Canada, said. “Importantly, it is a “win-win” agreement, which acknowledges the contribution of our customer service and sales agents to Air Canada’s success.”

The final agreement still must ratified by Unifor members and approved by Air Canada’s board of directors.

The agreement follows the end of Air Canda’s 10-year agreement with the pilots’ union. The airline has four other tentative agreements that need finalization, including with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and UNITE, U.S. and U.K. organizations representing each country’s respective unionized workforces.
