UPS said last week that it will expand its International Special Commodities (ISC) program to allow for the shipment of regulatory-approved biological substances, hazardous goods and shipments on dry ice via air to more than 50 international destinations.
In recent years, the need for specialized commodity items by international science laboratories and health care companies has increased tremendously with globalization. UPS is expanding its ISC program to help these companies meet complex regulatory requirements, such as receiving time- and temperature-sensitive shipments.
“The expanded program was guided by our customers to include the locations that are most important to them,” John Menna, UPS vice president of global strategy and health care logistics, said.
Among the countries included in the expanded service area are: Australia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, India, Indonesia, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, New Zealand, Panama, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Taiwan, Turkey and Ukraine.
