The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is asking pilots and others who use state-managed airports to complete a survey that will help the agency develop plans for 14 of the 16 facilities.
WSDOT and consultant Century West will use the results of the survey to guide the planning process.
WSDOT-managed airports are located throughout the state. They support emergency services, provide recreational opportunities and access to remote communities, and benefit local economies.
Plans for the state-managed airports will define short- and long-term needs through a comprehensive evaluation of airport conditions, and federal and state design standards. The plans also will provide guidance on improvements necessary to maintain safe, efficient and user-friendly airports.
Plans are being developed in three phases beginning with five priority airports: Phase I will include Sullivan Lake, Lake Wenatchee, Bandera, Easton and Woodland. It will be developed by the end of 2015. Phase II will take place between 2015 and 2016. It includes Tieton, Ranger Creek, Skykomish, Stehekin and Lower Granite. Phase III, planned for 2016-2017, includes
Little Goose, Lower Monumental, Rogersburg, Copalis and Methow.
