Reading and Northern Railroad names Thomas Cook vice president of transportation and safety

The Reading and Northern Railroad recently announced that it has named Thomas Cook as the company’s new Vice President of Transportation and Safety. In 1984, Cook earned his BA in Business Administration from Gettysburg College. Cook’s previous experience with leadership and operations is marked by a zeal of developing engineers and employees while making safety a top priority. Northbound I-29 ramps at U.S. 275/Iowa 92 to close for one year

The Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) said on Monday that the on- and off-ramps for northbound I-29 at the U.S. 275/Iowa 92 interchange (exit 47) are set to close on Thursday for approximately one year for road work. In addition, Denmark Drive into Metro Crossing will be closed until sometime in September. This road will open again in September 2015. Read More »

Local governments receive over $83.5 million from Wisconsin DOT

According to a recent announcement from Scott Walker, the Governor of Wisconsin, local government leaders have received a total of more than $83.5 million in payments from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) for Expressway Policing Aids, Connecting Highway Aids, and General Transportation Aids A total of 1,924 local governments received the finances. House bill aims to block proposed EPA water rule

In an effort to block the Environmental Protection Agency's proposed Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule, two House leaders introduced legislation on Monday that would block the rule from taking effect. U.S. Reps. Bill Shuster (R-PA), chairman of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and Bob Gibbs (R-OH), chairman of the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee, are sponsoring the Regulatory Integrity Protection Act of 2015.
